Nisser

The Nisse is a lake in the municipalities Nissedal and Kviteseid in the Norwegian county of Telemark. The name is derived from the Old Norse word Niðsær, which means " roaring sea."

The main tributary is the Straumen from Vråvatn, while the outflow over the Nisserelva, the flows together with Haugsjåsund with the Fyresdalsåna and becomes the Nidelva, which in turn flows into the North Sea at Arendal. The Nisse is thus a part of the river system Arendalsvassdraget.

The Nisse is the largest lake in Telemark and Norway's tenth-largest lake. The length is about 35 km. Along the eastern shore runs the Telemarksvegen.
