Nitting

Nitting ( German Nitting, 1940-44 Nittingen ) is a commune with 469 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the Red Saar, about seven kilometers south of Sarrebourg.

The municipality Nitting the south to the hamlet include Barville -Bas ( Unterbarweiler ) and Bourdonné ( Burdenhof ), a place situated to the southeast of the core yard.

History

The place was first mentioned in the 7th century as Nithingas and is named after a Frankish landowners called Nitto. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the monastery of Wissembourg, in the Thirty Years' War it was destroyed and since 1661, he belongs to France.
