Nitz
Nitz is a municipality in the volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kelberg.

Geography
Geographical location
The place is located in the Eifel on Nitzbach, a tributary of the puppet. About three miles north-west are the Nürburgring and the Hohe Acht, with 746.9 meters is the highest mountain in the Eifel.

Neighboring municipalities are Drees, Baar, Lind and Kirsbach.
History
Nitz belonged in the Middle Ages to the County of Nürburg. In 1815 it was administered by the mayor and Prussian Kelberg in a circle Adenau; since the municipal reform of 1970 Nitz belongs to the municipality Kelberg and the circle down.

Parish council
The local council in Nitz consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms description reads: " In a silver shield diagonally right blue wave bar. In the Herald pieces left a red diamond and the right a red eagle ".
The Nitzbach which flows through the town is shown as a blue wave line. The eagle refers to the former belonging to the County of Nürburg and the diamond on the county Virneburg. The coat of arms has been operational since December 18, 1986.
Attractions
Nitz has a chapel. Also worth seeing are the friend mill and the mill builder.

Economy
Nitz is predominantly agricultural until today.
