NK Karlovac

NK Karlovac is a Croatian football club from the city of Karlovac.

History

The NK Karlovac was founded in autumn 1919 by construction workers under the name Sportski klub Borac. A year later, the club was eventually renamed ŠK Karlovac and other renamings 1954 in NK Karlovac. Only in 1938 a private stadium was built in Senj road, which remained the home of the club until 1975. In the former Yugoslavia was the season 1972/73 the most successful, as the NK Karlovac finished third in the second division and thus ascended to the fourth largest Croatian club. After descending from the second Yugoslav league in 1977 until the founding of the second HNL managed to return to the second division. After a few seasons in the third division succeeded on the climbs in the 2nd league in 2005 ( down in the following year ) and 2008 in 2009 for the first time Erstligazugehörigkeit. After the 2011/12 season, however, followed the descent again, this time even in the third HNL, since you did not receive a license for the top two leagues.

Stadium

The stadium was built in 1975 and is called Branko Čavlović - Čavlek. It is owned by the city and offers 12 000 spectators. Due to the poor condition of place in 2009 instead of a renovation, the financing of which proves to be very difficult.
