Nkroful

Nkroful is a village in Ghana, about five kilometers away near Axim in the Nzema East District of the Western Region of the coastal road.

Nkroful is famous as the birthplace of Kwame Nkrumah, the first president and " founding father" of Ghana. Nkrumah was born on September 21, 1909, grew up here and was buried after his death in exile in 1972 here. Later, his body was transferred into a large mausoleum in Accra. In Nkroful but is still the "original" Nkrumah Mausoleum and a monument that continues to attract visitors. The Government of Ghana has announced that in view of the celebrations for the 50 years of independence in Ghana to invest considerable sums of money here and expand Nkroful for " political Mecca of Ghana ". In Nkroful Nzema and Fante are spoken alongside the lingua franca English. Near the village, there are gold deposits.
