No One Knows About Persian Cats

Persian cats but no one knows ( Persian: کسی از گربه های ایرانی خبر نداره, English: No One Knows About Persian Cats ) is an Iranian film from 2009, in which Bahman Ghobadi directed and produced by Wild Bunch. The film, which was shot in 17 days, gives the viewer an insight into the land of Iran, as he explores the secret rock scene. He won the Special Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard at the International Film Festival of Cannes 2009. In Germany the film for the first time on 3sat on 15 June 2011 have been aired in original version with German subtitles. Bahman Ghobadi was with this film help to address the current situation in Iran and providing public access to a wider audience.

Action

The film is about the two young musicians Negar and Ashkan who try after their release from prison, to form a band to leave this to Iran. The pair became friends with a man named Nader, an underground music enthusiast and producer who helps them travel through Tehran and environment to meet potential members for their band. The film shows many legal and cultural problems of independent musicians and generally the youth in conservative Iran.

In the film, there are, among others, music from the genres of Rap, Jazz, Electric Blues and Heavy Metal. Which occurs in the film band Take It Easy Hospital now lives in London and has contributed four songs to the film.

Criticism

Torang Abedian, an Iranian filmmaker, accuses Ghobadi, the story of her film Not an Illusion, which in five years in Tehran (2003-2008) was filmed stealing - both films came out in 2009. In December 2009, therefore Torang Abedian wrote an open letter to Bahman Ghobadi, the latter had not answered until today.

Prices

The first official appearance was at the International Film Festival in Cannes in 2009, where the film won the Special Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard.
