NOAA Hurricane Hunters

The NOAA Hurricane Hunters are an American flying unit that recorded within the Aircraft Operations Center ( AOC) environmental and geographic data, especially data on active hurricanes. Stationed they are in Tampa, Florida since 1993 at the MacDill Air Force Base. The unit is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( NOAA) assumed.

Order

The NOAA Hurricane Hunter research with specially equipped aircraft such as the Lockheed P-3 to support Gulfstream IV and Cessna Citation to NOAA missions to predict changes in the Earth's environment and the management of coastal and marine resources. This will be achieved through Hurricane flew to while recording measurement data and then transmit it to meteorologists and scientists for further processing. A further object is to support research projects, such as studies on ocean winds, winter storms, thunderstorms research, coastal erosion and atmospheric chemistry.
