Noah Baumbach

Noah Baumbach ( born September 3, 1969 in Brooklyn, New York City ) is an American film director and screenwriter.

Life and work

Noah Baumbach studied at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie in upstate New York. His debut as a writer and director he made in 1995 with the film Kicking and Screaming. His second film Highball followed two years later, however, he used this pseudonym Ernie Fusco.

He was married from 2005 to 2013 to actress Jennifer Jason Leigh.

In 2010 he received an invitation to the competition of the 60th Berlin Film Festival for his sixth feature film Greenberg.

Awards (selection)

For his screenplay for The Squid and the Whale, he was nominated for the 2006 Oscar. In 2005 he won a Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Screenplay.

Trivia

The band name Noah and the Whale refers to the film The Squid and the Whale, and the name of the director.
