Noailhac (Aveyron)

The community Noailhac with 171 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) located in the department of Aveyron in France's Midi-Pyrénées region. The municipality is located on the historic course of the French Road to Santiago Via Podiensis.

Geography and transport

Noailhac is located on the southwestern edge of the Massif Central, south over the Lot Valley, about five miles from Conques and about 28 kilometers south-east of Figeac. The next major French cities are Lyon (234 km) to the northeast, Toulouse ( 130 km) in the south-west, Bordeaux (236 km ) to the west and Montpellier ( 160 km) to the southeast.

After Noailhac is a road connection via the D233 and D606 in a southwesterly direction.

Way of St. James ( Via Podiensis )

In Noailhac there are few places to stay. It is a pilgrim hostel (French: Gîte d' étape ) in place. Passing the pilgrimage chapel of St. Roch leads the Way of St. James the hilly grasslands of the next bigger town Decazeville. On roads can be reached Decazeville about the route D502 and D840.

Attractions

  • Church from the 18th century which houses a reliquary bust of Saint Clair and bells of 1646.
  • The hermitage of Saint Roch 19th century.
