Nobel Peace Center

The Nobel Peace Center (Norwegian Nobel Fredssenter ) is a Norwegian Foundation, which was established on the occasion of the celebrations for the 100th international sovereignty of Norway in 2000 by the Norwegian Parliament and opened on 11 June 2005.

The Foundation provides information about the Nobel Peace Prize, the award winners and their work, as well as recent areas of conflict in the world and to work for peace.

The Foundation has its headquarters in Vestbanestasjonen, the former West Railway Station, the Town Hall Square in Oslo, opposite the Oslo City Hall, where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded. In the old train shed and the gallery, there are changing exhibitions. There are also held lectures and conferences, and there are films shown.

After the opening, about 100,000 visitors came during the year 2005 for the Peace Center. The aim of the center is to ask by a visit to the Peace Center to individuals for reflection and commitment.
