The Nobiin ( with Tonbezeichnung: Nòbíin; literally, " the Nubian [ language ]") is the most important of the Nubian languages , which in turn belong to the branch of the Nilo-Saharan language family ostsudanischen.
It is further expected to sub-group of the " Nilnubischen " ( More details about the structure, see the articles on the Nubian languages).
Linguistic situation
Dialects of Nobiin are Maha and Fiyadikka.
As a medieval precursor of Nobiin applies the Altnubische.
The Speaker of the Nobiin use nowadays almost all the Arab in its local varieties as a second language.
The Nobiin is re- written with Arabic, Latin, and even occasionally with altnubischen letters, however, there is no standardized orthography.
Linguistic characteristics
The Nobiin is a tonal language with two important distinctive pitches, high and low:
- Tweeter: Áy "heart", úr "their"
- Woofer: AY " I ", ur "head"
For long vowels may result from the combination of both a falling tone arise:
- NEEL " I drink " as opposed to
- NEEL "Nil ", where the long vowel has a high frequency
At the verb, inter alia, the person is marked (the subject ).
The basic word order is subject-object - verb.
