The since the founding of the Democratic Party ( DP) close links to the Rengo - although not as close as between the predecessor organizations and the former left-wing parties - are occasionally questioned by Koga's office, which took place almost simultaneously with the government takeover of the DP: In 2011, he positioned - contrary to the previous Rengo and government policy - the Rengo as opponents of nuclear energy in the national energy policy debate; In 2012, he spoke as probably first Rengo President to the Board of the opposition after decades of reign of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP ). In other areas, such as the prohibition of strikes in the public service work Rengo and DP continue to work closely together.
