Nobuo Uematsu

Nobuo Uematsu (Japanese植 松 伸 夫Nobuo Uematsu, born March 21, 1959 in Kochi, Kochi Prefecture) is a Japanese composer and musician, music for video games and computer games, and sometimes also composed for films.

Biography

After graduating high school, Uematsu graduated from the University Kanagawa. When Uematsu was 22, he entered many amateur bands with a keyboard player, but soon realized that writing music appealed to him more than playing. Therefore, he began a career as a composer and sent demo tapes to many businesses. Eventually he was hired and wrote music for radio CM.

In 1985, Uematsu was from a friend, the Square at the video game company Co., Ltd.. was busy, asked if he would write music for some video games. So Uematsu began to write soundtracks, including for almost all games of known Final Fantasy series by Square Soft. In these he also collaborated with other artists. In November 2004, he left the company Square Enix to work as a freelance composer. His company is called Smile Please.
