Nobuteru Ishihara

Nobuteru Ishihara (Jap.石 原 伸 晃, Ishihara Nobuteru; born April 19, 1957 in Zushi, Kanagawa Prefecture) is a Japanese politician, Member of the Shūgiin, the lower house of the national parliament, from the prefecture of Tokyo for the Liberal Democratic Party, in which he has 2012, Ishihara faction leads. Since 2012 he's Environment Minister in the second cabinet Abe.

Life

Ishihara is the eldest son of the writer, actor and politician Shintaro Ishihara. After his studies at Elmira College in New York and at the Keio University, he worked from 1981 for Nippon Television. Yet while his father was MP for the second constituency Tokyo, he was a candidate in the 1990 election Shūgiin successfully in the 4th constituency Tokyo ( 5 seats) and was re-elected six times in eight new Einmandatswahlkreis Tokyo since 1996. He joined the LDP initially at no faction.

From 1996 to 1997 Ishihara was parliamentary secretary in the MITI. 2001 appointed him Prime Minister Koizumi Jun'ichirô as Minister of State for Deregulation in his cabinet, then in 2003 as Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. In 2004, the Ministry of the coalition partners Kōmeitō. Subsequently, he served as Chairman of the Highway Committee.

Under the Prime Minister and party leader Shinzō Abe Ishihara was after the reshuffle in August 2007 Chairman of the Policy Research Council of the LDP; a month later followed him under Yasuo Fukuda Sadakazu Tanigaki up the field. In December 2007 he joined the Yamasaki faction.

Prior to the election of the LDP Chairman on 22 September 2008 by the successor Fukuda Ishihara said he considered himself against Secretary General Taro Aso at the other end of the political spectrum and will be standing against him, if there are no other competitors ASOS stood for election. He stepped - 19 years after the failed candidacy of his father - and received the fourth-highest share of the vote behind Asō, Kaoru Yosano and Yuriko Koike.
