Nocciano

Nocciano is a 1845 inhabitants and 13 km ² comprehensive community near Rosciano and Catignano and is located in the province of Pescara.

Borders the following municipalities: Alanno, Catignano, Cugnoli, Pianella and Rosciano.

History

In the municipality of objects were found from pre-Roman and Roman times. Excavations in the vicinity of the village have uncovered several ruins of Roman buildings and many antique items such as weapons, jars and coffins. Surfaced are also remains of a Roman villa with mosaics, whose origins was an ancient Roman town called Follonica.

Around the year 1000 the in the area a watchtower, which is still visible today. In the 12th century the castle with the construction of two wings, has been extended on the right and on the left side of the tower. In 1670 Antonio took Aliprandi, who belonged to an old noble family, the fief Nocciano in his possession.
