Nocturne

The (also: " the " ) or Nocturne Nocturne (German wortwörtl. " Night becoming " most " nocturnal ") is a resultant in the Baroque form that is not fixed in their occupation and sentence structure. During this time, the term Nocturne overlaps with the serenade. Nocturnes established itself as a popular music to princely houses, and were primarily occupied instrumental, but could also contain vocal elements.

In today's perception, however, connect to the Nocturne especially in the romance resulting character pieces for piano, as the inventor of the Irish composer John Field applies. Of particular importance were the 21 Nocturnes by Frédéric Chopin, which only rarely correspond to the valid time in this picture of the nocturne as a rather slower and quiet piano piece in its investment, but a wide variety of expressive possibilities unfold. These ideas are more in the also very popular love dreams of Franz Liszt, however, require a high level of technological sophistication of the interpreter.

Nocturnes for piano were still composed among others by Alexander Scriabin ( under the strong influence of Chopin ), Erik Satie, Gabriel Fauré and Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Claude Debussy composed in Impressionism again Nocturnes for orchestra and choir. Daft Punk, Michiru Yamane and Billy Joel used the Nocturne in popular music and video game music.

Volker David Kirchner wrote a Concert Piece for Viola and Orchestra with the German expression for Nocturne in the title: Night Piece ( variations on a Wagnerian chord connection).
