Noé Hernández

Noé Hernández Valentin (born 15 March 1978 in Chimalhuacán, State of México, † January 16, 2013 ) was a Mexican athlete.

At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney he won the silver medal in the 20 km walk. With a time of 1:19:03 h, it was just four seconds behind the winner Robert Korzeniowski (POL ). At the World Athletics Championships in Paris in 2003 the walker with his personal best of 1:18:14 h, was fourth.

After his career end Hernández, among other things worked as a sports commissioner of the Mexican ruling party Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI ). On December 30, 2012 Hernández got into a bar in the town of Los Reyes La Paz in an exchange of fire in which two people were killed, and was critically wounded in the head. After several operations, he was discharged from the hospital on January 8, 2013 and died on January 16, 2013 of heart failure.
