Noel Dempsey

Noel Dempsey (Irish Nollaig Ó Díomasaigh, born January 6, 1953 in Trim, County Meath ) is an Irish politician and from 2007 to 2011 Minister of Transport of the Republic of Ireland.

Life

Dempsey studied at University College Dublin and St. Patrick's College, Maynooth. Politically, began his career in the Meath County Council, where he served as a member from 1977 to 1992. In addition, he was from 1977 to 1991 member of the Meath Library Committee and was from 1981 to 1992 the Trim Urban County Council on. Between 1986 and 1987, Dempsey was chairman of Meath County Council.

1987 Dempsey was elected for Fianna Fáil in the Dáil Éireann. In the following elections, he was able to defend his mandate successfully. As a Teachta Dala he held from 1992 to 1994 several post as Minister of State. From June 1997 to June 2002 Dempsey was Minister for the Environment and practiced after the Office of the Minister of Education (Minister for Education and Science) from. 2004, he was Minister for Communications, coastal protection and natural resources, and finally joined us in 2007 in the Ministry of Transport.

Dempsey is married and has four children, two sons and two daughters.
