Noflen

Noflen is a municipality in the Bern-Mittelland administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

Geography

Noflen is situated 630 m above sea level. M., 8 km northwest of the city of Thun (air line). The scattered settlement without distinct town center extends a scenic location on the southern foothills of the Belpberg between the valleys of the Gürbe in the west and the river Aare to the east.

The area of ​​2.7 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the broad Aaresenke between Bern and Thun. The central part of the area consists of about 1 km wide ridge of Noflen, which represents the southern continuation of the Belpberg, with the elevations of Häsenen (660 m above sea level. M. ) and mountain (up to 680 m above sea level. M., highest point of the community). To the east of the municipality spell ranges over a relatively gently sloping hillside in the formerly marshy valley of the Limpachs (tributary of the River Aare ). To the west of the ridge drops off with a steep slope to Gürbetalebene and extends over the channelized Müsche up in the middle of here is about 1.5 km wide level. From the municipality surface 1997 accounted for 5% on settlements, 14% forest and shrubs and 81 % to agriculture.

Noflen comprises the hamlets Oberdörfli (630 m above sea level. M. ) and lower hamlet ( 612 m above sea level. M. ) on the ridge, Stoffelsrüti (580 m above sea level. M. ) slightly increased on the western edge of the Limpachsenke as well as from some farm groups and individual farms. Neighboring communities of Noflen are Kirchdorf ( BE), Uttigen, Uetendorf, Seftigen and Burgi stone.

Population

With 286 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Noflen one of the small communities of the Canton of Bern. Of the residents 99.2 % are German and 0.8 % speak Albanian (as of 2000). The population of Noflen amounted in 1850 to 241 residents in 1900 to 207 inhabitants. During the 20th century, the population fluctuated always in the range 210-260 people.

Economy

Noflen was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the farming and market gardening (particularly carbon plantations ) in Guerbetal and dairy farming and animal husbandry an important place in the economic structure of the population. Some other jobs are in the local retail industry and the services available. In recent decades, the village has developed thanks to its attractive location into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the larger towns in the area, in the agglomeration of Bern or Thun.

Traffic

The community is located off the major thoroughfares on a link road from Kirchdorf to Seftigen. The nearest links to the motorway A6 ( Bern- Thun) is located approximately 7 km from the town center. Noflen has no connection to the public transport network.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1250 under the name Novelon. Later, the names Noflon ( 1260 ) published, Nofflen ( 1312) and Nofflon ( 1356). The place name comes from the Latin word Novale ( Brachfeld ).

The area was formerly part of Noflen sphere of the Barons of Kramburg. Under Bernese rule ( since the Reformation, 1528), it was subordinate to the district court Seftigen. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798 ) Noflen belonged during the Helvetic Republic to the District Seftigen and from 1803 to Oberamt Seftigen, which was given the status of an office district with the new cantonal constitution of 1831. To a territorial expansion came in 1948 when the previously to the municipality Jaberg belonging exclave Stoffelsrüti was affiliated with the church Noflen.

Attractions

In the hamlets and farm groups characteristic farmhouses in the Bernese style have been preserved from the 18th century, including a wooden house in Hochstudkonstruktion with a kick oven. Noflen does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish church village.
