Nofret (II.)

Nofret ( sometimes referred to as Nofret II, to distinguish them from Nofret, mother of Amenemhet I, ) was a royal lady titled " bodily King's Daughter". She wore next to other titles such as " Mistress of the Two Lands ", " Mistress of all women " or " The united to Cha- cheper - Re". The latter title suggests a relationship to Sesostris II (reigned about 1901-1882 BC), as Cha- cheper -Re is the throne name. Their position is controversial in research. Because of the high title it is often referred to as the wife of Sesostris II. Silke Roth sees in it but rather a daughter of Sesostris II, since it does not carry the title " king consort ". Nofret is of two life-size seated statues from Tanis known, on which see their numerous titles, and appears on a papyrus fragment from Lahun.
