Active reactors ( gross ):

The nuclear power plant in Nogent lies with the French community Nogent -sur -Seine in the Champagne- Ardenne region in the department of Aube. The nuclear power plant, which consists of two pressurized water reactors, is located about 60 kilometers south east of Paris on the right bank of the Seine.

Key data

The approximately 100 -acre nuclear power plant site is located on a flood-proof, five -meter high platform. The plant employs approximately 700 people. Operator is the French company Electricité de France (EDF). The cooling of the reactor units is performed with two 165 -meter high cooling towers and the Seine water withdrawn.

The two pressurized water reactors have a net power output of 1310 megawatts ( MW) and a gross capacity of 1363 MW. The total installed capacity is 2726 MW; thus counts the nuclear power plant to the middle of France. Every year, it feeds an average of 18 billion kilowatt hours into the public power grid. This corresponds to about one-third of the annual electricity consumption of the Ile- de -France region.

The construction of the first reactor block was started on 26th May 1981 this was on 21 October 1987. With the building of the second reactor block was started on 1 January 1982, which was put into operation on 14 December 1988.

Special events
