Nogna

Nogna is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Nogna is located at 555 m above sea level. M., about eleven miles southeast of the town of Lons -le- Saunier (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, in the extreme south of the plateau Caledonia (first Jura plateau ), west of the heights of the Côte de l' Today with the Château de Beauregard.

The area of ​​6.11 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The main part of the territory occupied by the level of the plateau Caledonia, the average at 540 m above sea level. M. is and is passed partly of arable and meadow land, partly by forest. The plateau has no above-ground rivers, because the rainwater seeps into the karst underground. To the east, the municipality's area extends up to the heights of the Côte de l' Today, on the 623 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation of Nogna is achieved. The crest of the Côte de l' Today is interrupted by a klusartiges valley here, which connects to the valley floor of the Combe d' Ain.

Neighboring communities of Nogna are Publy in the north, Mesnois in the east, the south and Marnézia Poids -de- Fiole in the West.

History

Several findings indicate that the municipality of Nogna was already inhabited during the Gallo- Roman period. In the 12th century the chapel of Nogna is first mentioned. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the barony of Binans. Together with the Franche -Comté it came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France. In 1820 Poids -de- Fiole was merged with Nogna. The separation was carried out, however, in 1839, and since then both towns form independent communities.

Attractions

The village church of Saint-Barthélemy was built in the 18th century. Remnants of the former manor house Château- Faratte are obtained.

Population

With 265 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Nogna one of the small towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886, 337 people were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the mid-1970s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Nogna was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture and forestry village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is traffic- technically quite well developed. It lies on the main road N78, which runs from Lons -le- Saunier to Saint -Laurent -en- Grandvaux. Further road links exist with Poids -de- Fiole, Marnézia and Publy.
