NoHo, Manhattan

NoHo is a neighborhood in the New York district of Manhattan. NoHo is the abbreviation for North of Houston Street and is therefore the opposite of SoHo (South of Houston Street). NoHo is roughly bounded by Houston Street to the south, The Bowery on the east, Astor Place on the north and Broadway (Manhattan ) to the west. The name NoHo was invented in the 1980s by real estate agents. However, it is debatable whether this small area is to be regarded as an independent district.
