Noidans -le- Ferroux is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Noidans -le- Ferroux situated at an altitude of 233 m above sea level, 11 km south of Scey -sur -Saône -et -Saint -Albin and approximately 16 km west-southwest of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, in the valley of the Ruisseau de Noidans south of Saônetals.

The area of ​​13.99 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the upper Saônebeckens. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Noidans. It is drained by the Ruisseau de Noidans, which is dammed below the village to a roughly 3 -acre pond, northeast to Ruisseau de Vy- le- Ferroux. The trough of Noidans is slightly sunk into the surrounding plateau, which is on average 250 m. This plateau is in the southern part of sandy- marly sediments of the Tertiary, while north of the village come to light and calcareous rocks of the Upper Jurassic time. The fertile soils are mainly used for agricultural purposes. There are larger areas of forest in the outskirts to the east, Bois de la Baronne, south of the Bois du Bouillon and the northwest of the Bois des Fougères, in the 267 m, the highest elevation of Noidans -le- Ferroux is achieved.

History

In the Middle Ages Noidans belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local noble family, which is occupied in the 12th century, became extinct 1524. Together with the Franche -Comté Noidans came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. From the 12th century until the late 19th century, iron ore was mined in the area of Noidans. Today Noidans -le- Ferroux is a member of the 22 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes des Combes.

Attractions

The village church of Noidans -le- Ferroux was rebuilt in the 19th century. Additional area attractions include the Fontaine- Lavoir with its arcades and frescoes by Stephane and various modern sculptures in the center.

Population

With 597 inhabitants ( 2004) Noidans -le- Ferroux one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. The previous high with respect to the number of inhabitants reached Noidans -le- Ferroux in 1850 with almost 1000 people. After that, the population increased rapidly with the decline of the iron industry. Since 1900, the number of inhabitants lies in the range of 450 to 600 people.

Economy and infrastructure

Noidans -le- Ferroux was early on a predominantly imprinted by the iron manufacturing village. Today there are numerous companies of small and medium enterprises. Also of importance are the industries metalworking, precision engineering and transport industry. In 2006, the Centre de Valorisation of Déchets was opened, a waste sorting and waste incineration plant. In recent decades, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the agglomeration Vesoul.

For several years, Noidans -le- Ferroux also caters to green tourism. At a community pond water and leisure sports center with swimming pool, tennis courts and boat rental and a 18-hole Swingolfanlage was built, were held at the 2008 French Championships.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Vesoul after Fresne -Saint- Mamès. Further road links exist with Fretigney -et- Velloreille, Le Pont -de- Planches, Fédry and Traves. Noidans -le- Ferroux has a railway station on the now disused railway line from Vesoul to Gray.
