Noise Records

Noise Records was a German record label, which focused on Heavy Metal.

The label " Noise" was in 2001 by selling the record company " Modern Music Records GmbH", a sub- label of Sanctuary Group, an international record company. The heavy metal label was like the punk label founded Aggressive rock productions of Karl -Ulrich Walter Bach and made since the 1980s, many still significant rock and metal bands known.

Company History

Founded in 1981 by Karl -Ulrich Walter Bach the independent record company Modern Music Records GmbH. In the first years exclusively Punk German-speaking groups ( Slime, Daily Terror, Toxoplasma, compilation series ' soundtracks to the downfall " ) and U.S. punk ( Hüsker Dü, Misfits, Angry Samoans, etc. Black Flag with Henry Rollins ) was published. By working closely with Black Flag and their label SST Walter Bach came in 1983 with West Coast underground metal bands like Saint Vitus in contact. From this then developed in 1984 released the label Noise Records, the first on European thrash bands like Kreator, Tankard and Celtic Frost specialized and then other bands Metal styles such as Helloween, Running Wild and Grave Digger Rage. In the early days there was a two-year collaboration with Metallica label Megaforce Records from New York, of which it has licensed the thrash metal band Overkill and in return Grave Digger was able to publish in the U.S. via Megaforce.

Noise Records most successful band was in the late 1980s, the Hamburg -speed metal band Helloween, whose Keeper of the Seven Keys albums worldwide top chart positions achieved with sales of over 1 million alone for the Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 2 album.

A label deal in 1990 with the German EMI for 4 bands ( Helloween, Running Wild, Celtic Frost, V2) was short-lived, since the management of the group Helloween brought in contract brittle manner, directly at the British EMI artist. The ensuing dispute was decided by the German courts for the purposes of Noise Records and settled out of court after two years of litigation. Under the settlement, then went Helloween own way.

By connecting the T & T Records label in 1993 as a sublabel of Noise Records were reinforced in the melodic range (Virgin Steele, Stratovarius, Elegy, etc.) and through cooperation with the Berlin label " Hellhound Records " in 1994 in the area of ​​the Doom Metal.

The productions of Noise Records found through distribution and licensing publications worldwide distribution (about 42 countries). In the United States and Great Britain had its own offices. The label was sold in 2001 to the English Sanctuary Group.

After the takeover by Universal in August 2007 Sanctuary Records was closed as an independent label. This meant the end of Noise Records.
