Nokasad

Soi Sri Samut ( Soi Sisamouth, Soi Si Samout Phouthong Kun ( or Koun ), full throne name Somdet Brhat Chao Jaya Sri Samudra Buddhangkura, also Nokasad; * 1693 in the mountains of Pusangor Horkam, Laos, † 1738 in Khorat, Thailand ) was the first king of the Kingdom of Champasak and reigned 1713-1738.

Soi Sri Samut was born in 1693 and Prince ( Chao ) Nakasatra Sungaya ( Nokasat Song) and was the youngest son of Princess Sumangala Kumari, a subsidiary of Sulingvongse (reigned 1638-1690 ), King Van Lan Xang. He was proclaimed in 1713 by Phra Krum Bunsamek King of Champasak. During his reign, Buddhism was strengthened in many parts of Champasak, in particular by the monk Ponsamek in the south of the country. Around 1709 he married a daughter of Somdet Brhat Jaya Parama Surendra Rajadhiraja Rama ( Jaya Jatha IV ), King of Cambodia. In 1718 he was in present-day Thai district Suwannaphum (Province Roi Et) established the first Laotian village in the valley of the river Chi.
