Nolwenn Leroy

Nolwenn Leroy ( born September 28, 1982 in Saint -Renan, Brittany as Nolwenn Le Magueresse ) is a French singer.

Biography

After the early discovery of her musical talent Leroy, daughter of soccer players Jean-Luc Le Magueresse took violin lessons during school time. In 1998, she lived for a year as an exchange student in the USA ( Cincinnati, Ohio) and enrolled after their return at the Music Conservatory in Vichy one. In 2001, she started at the University of Clermont- Ferrand law school with the goal of a diplomatic career. Animated by the first episode of Star Academy, a French variant of the casting shows the early 2000s, she took singing lessons from what became known through the show singing teacher Armande Altaï.

A possible musical career for which they had applied successfully, hit it and took part in the second season of Star Academy. End of December 2002, it was clear as the winner.

With their first single Cassé they could be placed in the French and Swiss charts. Her first album Nolwenn sold very well in French-speaking countries, reaching number one and double platinum in France (more than 600,000 records sold ) and 2nd in Switzerland and Belgium. In 2004 she was at the NRJ Music Awards as " French-speaking newcomer " award.

After an extensive tour and publications in the French-speaking part of Canada, she returned in 2006 with a new number -one hit Nolwenn Ohwo! back, which was written by Alain Souchon and Laurent Voulzy. Laurent Voulzy has also produced the little later released second album Histoires Naturelles. For the sale of over 400,000 plates she got here again platinum. The songs from Histoires Naturelles and Nolwenn were in the " Histoires Naturelles Tour", which was launched in September 2006, presented. The first live album Nolwenn Leroy was released in late October 2007.

Le Cheshire Cat & Moi was a project that vvas started in 2007. The songs come mainly from Leroy and Teitur Lassen, with additional contributions by Jonatha Brooke, Rupert Hine, Michelle Featherstone and Mike Errico. Teitur Lassen produced the album, the songs were recorded in Sweden and the Faroe Islands. The result was a completely acoustic album, which was released in December 2009. The tour, entitled " Le Cheshire Cat & Vous " was launched in 2010.

On 6 December 2010 their album Bretonne appeared with predominantly traditional songs from Brittany, England and Ireland. It was Leroy's most successful album with over 1.2 million copies sold. In addition to number 1 in France and Belgium reached one of their albums for the first time the German charts and made them known about the French-speaking world beyond.
