Nomad

As nomads ( altgr. νομάς nomas, " grazing ", " wandering around " ) people and societies are called, the result of cultural, economic or ideological reasons, a non-sedentary lifestyle. In a figurative sense, including withdrawal of the roving from place to place, the word is used more recently also for so-called " Mietnomaden " or " job nomads ", the latter understood as persons who do not seek permanent professional employment from personal decision, but the position and in connection therewith also the place of residence frequently change.

This article gives an overview of the geographical distribution of some nomadic or semi-nomadic peoples living. Traditional nomadic ways of life are dealt with in Article nomadism.
