Nong Bua Lamphu Province

Nong Bua Lamphu ( Thai: หนองบัวลำภู, [ nɔ ː ŋ p ʰ ū ː lām BUA ] ) is a province ( Changwat ) in the Northeast region of Thailand, Isan. The capital of the province of Nong Bua Lamphu also called Nong Bua Lamphu.

Geography

The province is located about 550 kilometers northeast of the capital city of Bangkok amid the Khorat Plateau.

Climate

The climate is tropical and monsunal.

History

At about 1768 here brothers Phra Vo and Phra Ta from the family Suvarnkut settled that came from Vientiane and wanted to form an independent territory. While Phra Ta has already been killed by the Burmese in 1768, Phra Vo developed a small rule, which he called Nakhon Khuankhan Karb Bua Ban Keo. From this later Nong Bua Lamphu developed.

Nong Bua Lamphu was initially part of the province of Udon Thani and was founded in 1993 as part of the policy of decentralization an independent province. Nong Bua Lamphu was, therefore, Amnat Charoen and along with Sa Kaeo, until the creation of the province of Bueng Kan 2011, the three youngest provinces of the country.

Economic importance and

In 2011, the "Gross Provincial Product" ( GDP ) was the province of 17.929 billion baht (about 440 million euros ). This corresponds to 33 314 baht per head (about 810 euros ), only about a fifth of the national average. This Nong Bua Lamphu is one of the poorest provinces in Thailand. In Thailand's socio -economic survey of 2002 Nong Bua Lamphu was with a poverty rate of about 40%, the poorest province in the country. The minimum wage in the province is 165 baht (about 4 euros ) per day.

The Nong Bua Lamphu province has a total of 497 wetlands covering an area of 38.4 km ², which are more or less intensively used for agriculture.

Symbols

The seal of the province depicts King Naresuan in his shrine. The shrine was built in 1574, when he raised troops for the fight against the king of Lan Xang. Behind the shrine is a pond with the Tiger Lotus ( Nymphaea lotus ), which is also the local flower. The local tree is the Siamese Rosewood ( Dalbergia cochinchinensis ).

Administrative units

The province is divided into six administrative districts ( Amphoe ). The counties are further subdivided into 59 communes ( tambon) and 636 villages ( Muban ).

In the province there is a city ( เทศบาล เมือง - thesaban Mueang ): Nong Bua Lamphu ( เทศบาล เมือง หนองบัวลำภู ), and there are 12 small towns ( เทศบาล ตำบล - thesaban tambon).
