Nong Muang Khai District

Amphoe Nong Muang Khai ( Thai อำเภอ หนอง ม่วง ไข่ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in Phrae province in the northern region of Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe the Song, Rong Kwang, Mueang Phrae and Long. All Amphoe belong to the province of Phrae.

The main water resources of the district are the Maenam Yom ( Yom River ).

Nong Muang Khai is the largest contiguous rice-growing area of Thailand. The rice is grown here for years timeless, that means that is harvested in some areas, while others just lie fallow, and still others are planted with the Reisschösslingen. The irrigation of the rice fields is done by the Maenam Yom, which flows through the province of Phrae.

A portion of the water of Maenam Yom is derived using a sophisticated pumping system in the rice fields and by opening simple wooden locks again. In contrast to many other rice fields - for example, in southern Thailand - here stands the rice plant is not in standing water, but is in this case rather supplied with continuous fresh water, which contributes to a an excellent crop quality and secondly the distribution of breeding sites of mosquitoes and the malaria mosquito is in derogation as these standing for the spawning brood prefer water.

History

Nong Muang Khai was on 1 April 1990 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the Tambon Mae Kham Nong Muang Khai Mi and Amphoe Rong Kwang and the Wangluang and advice of Amphoe Nam Song were merged. On September 7, 1990, he received the full Amphoe status.

Attractions

Nong Muang Khai is remotely touristy of developed places, but is a good starting point for multi-day excursions to the far north of Thailand, for example in the direction of Chiang Mai and the " Golden Triangle" of Laos, Myanmar, Thailand.

Management

The Amphoe Nong Muang Khai is divided into six communes ( tambon), which further into 34 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

The small town ( thesaban tambon) Nong Muang Khai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ม่วง ไข่ ) comprises most of the Tambon Nong Muang Khai.

There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
