Nông Đức Mạnh

Nong Mạnh Đức ( born September 11, 1940) was April 22, 2001 to January 19, 2011 Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

His official biography states that he was a farmer's son from the tribe of Tay and was born on September 11, 1940 in Cuong Loi, Na Ri District, Bac Kan Province.

He is widely regarded as a reformer and has announced that he wants to make 2020 Vietnam into an industrial country.
