Nonni and Manni was the ZDF - Christmas series of the year in 1988 and was co-produced between Iceland, Norway and Germany, based on the eponymous book by Jón Sveinsson. Director was Ágúst Guðmundsson. Shots for the film originated in the old houses on the island of Flatey in Breiðafjörður.

The history

The story takes place in Iceland the year 1869. Nonni and Manni live with her mother and grandmother on a farm when one day suddenly a stranger with a bad news of the death of her father shows up. Harald, the name of the stranger, applies quickly as the killer of a wealthy farmer, but Nonni and Manni not believe this and keep it hidden.
