Noorduyn Norseman

The Noorduyn C-64 Norseman (English for northerners ) is a lightweight Canadian transport and liaison aircraft for up to nine passengers. It is used both as a country - and often with floats as a seaplane.

History

The C-64 has been designed in 1934 by Robert Noorduyn to satisfy the growing demand for robust transport aircraft in the growing Canadian aircraft market. To ensure a smooth loading and unloading at docks and airports, the aircraft was designed as a high-wing monoplane with high-set wings.

The American composer and bandleader Glenn Miller to have died aboard a Norseman who disappeared without a trace over the English Channel on a flight and was never found.

Construction
