Norberg Municipality

Norberg is a municipality (Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västmanland County and the historic province of Västmanland. The main town of the municipality is Norberg.

History

The first historical finds date from the 12th century and come from the remains of furnaces in which the funded in the Bergslagen ore was melted. Still get the Polhemsrad ( Polhemshjulet ), a water wheel, which served as part of a drive system for draining the mines of Kärrgruvan 1876-1920.

In 1390 the freedom fighters Engelbrekt Engelbrektsson was born near, the 1434 revolt led the Engelbrekt.
