Norbert Hofmann (footballer born 1972)

Norbert Hofmann ( born January 1, 1972 in Mannheim ) is a former German football player.

Playing career

In youth Hofmann played at the Mannheim district club TSV 47 Schönau, where he was a 17- year-old to SV Waldhof Mannheim in 1989. After its relegation from the Bundesliga in 1990 was as nimble and intelligent game called Hofmann coach Günter Sebert taken to the training camp before the season starts. As a result, he became a key player at SV Waldhof in the 2nd Bundesliga. After the climb was repeatedly missed, Hofmann moved to the relegation to the Regionalliga Süd 1997 VfL Bochum. In the years before, he had offers from the Bundesliga resisted, partly for family reasons. In Bochum, he played two years under Klaus Toppmöller. There prevented injuries and, according to observers, lack of ambition breakthrough. Then moved Hofmann 1 FC Saarbrücken, with which he ascended to the 2nd Bundesliga after one year. After a total of three years in Saarland in 2002 the ambitious TSG 1899 Hoffenheim secured his services. Hofmann was there but not prevail and, after two years in the Second Team. For the season 2005/ 06 he moved to FSV Oggersheim, where he ended his career after a further season. Hofmann played as an attacking midfielder 58 games in the first and 245 games in the second division.
