Norbert Reithofer

Norbert Reithofer (born 29 May 1956 in Penzberg ) is a German manager and since September 1, 2006 as the successor of Helmut Panke Chairman of BMW AG.

Life

After school diploma Reithofer studied from 1974 to 1977 at the University of Munich engineering and then moved to the Technical University of Munich, to study production engineering and management science. After graduating as an engineer, he was a research assistant from 1984 to 1987 with Joachim Milberg at the TU Munich.

In 1987, Norbert Reithofer as head of maintenance for the BMW Group. Later he was head of the department " body shop " and then Technical Director of BMW South Africa Rosslyn in the province of Gauteng. From 1997 to 2000 he was president of the U.S. BMW U.S. Manufacturing Company in Greer, South Carolina. From March 2000 until August 2006 he served as Member of the Board for production, before he moved to the top of the company. He is a member of the University Council of the Technical University of Munich.

Awards

  • In 2005 he received the Grand Gold Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria (equivalent to a Commander's Cross 1st class).
  • In July 2010 he was awarded by the Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer, the Bavarian Order of Merit.
  • In 2011 he received an honorary doctorate from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Munich.
  • In the same year it appoints the Manager Magazine Manager of the Year.
  • In 2012 he was Maurice Gourdault -Montagne awarded by the French Ambassador in Germany with the Knight's Cross of the Legion of Honour.
