Norderland

The Norderland is a historic landscape, located on the northwestern outskirts of East Friesland right on the Wadden Sea, which comprises a wide area around the city north. The Norderland bordered to the east by the Harlingerland and on the south by the Brookmerland.

According to current understanding, the Norderland includes the municipalities north, Samtgemeinde Hage, Großheide and the majority of the community Dornum. Occasionally, the term Norderland also finds for the area of the former district north use, historically, however, this also includes parts of the Bro ( o) kmerlandes and Emsigerlandes.
