Nordharz

Nordharz is a municipality in the district unit Harz Mountains, Saxony -Anhalt, Germany. The administrative headquarters is located in Veckenstedt.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Harz mountains and partly in the Harz nature park. Through them, the rivers flow Ecker and Ilse. On the territory of the municipality lies the medieval deserted village Rimmerode.

History

The unit community north resin was formed on 1 January 2010 from seven municipalities of the so -resolution Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Nordharz and the community Danstedt from the former administrative community Harz foreland -Huy. Coat of arms

The coat of arms was designed by Jörg Kommunalheraldiker Mantzsch and approved by the county on 28 January 2011.

The colors of the community are white - blue.

The coat of arms ties with its symbolism of the rivers Ecker and Ilse. While Ilse et al is represented by the poet Heinrich Heine as a mythological princess by the female figure, the glans referring to the plug. The name of the plug is ambiguous, was originally.
