Nordharz
Nordharz is a municipality in the district unit Harz Mountains, Saxony -Anhalt, Germany. The administrative headquarters is located in Veckenstedt.

Geography
The municipality is located in the Harz mountains and partly in the Harz nature park. Through them, the rivers flow Ecker and Ilse. On the territory of the municipality lies the medieval deserted village Rimmerode.

The municipality is located in Veckenstedt.
History
The unit community north resin was formed on 1 January 2010 from seven municipalities of the so -resolution Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Nordharz and the community Danstedt from the former administrative community Harz foreland -Huy. The merger took place against the background of the municipal reform in Saxony- Anhalt.

Coat of arms
The coat of arms was designed by Jörg Kommunalheraldiker Mantzsch and approved by the county on 28 January 2011.
Blazon: " Azure, a rechtshin border silver female figure, which topped covered with a cloth head in hands holding a silver acorn; pale as accompanied by 4 per golden millstones. "
The colors of the community are white - blue.
The coat of arms ties with its symbolism of the rivers Ecker and Ilse. While Ilse et al is represented by the poet Heinrich Heine as a mythological princess by the female figure, the glans referring to the plug. The name of the plug is ambiguous, was originally. Etymologically it comes from Germanic or Old German back to the concept of a forest tree fruit ( cf. Beechnut, calibration plug). The eight millstones are on one hand the number of united cities, on the other hand they take with respect to the once widely encountered mills ( Miihlenweg ).

The flag is blue - white - blue ( 1:4:1 ) striped ( cross- shape: strips horizontally extending, longitudinal shape: strip running vertically ) and centrally occupied with the municipal coat of arms.
