The Nordic Battle Group (Nordic Battlegroup ) is one of 18 EU Battle Groups. It consists of about 2800 soldiers (Sweden: 2300, Finland: 200, Norway 150, Ireland: 80 and Estonia: 50 ). The Strategic Command is performed in cooperation with the United Kingdom.
History
The unit was set up on 1 January 2008 and was from that time until the end of June 2008 to readiness. She has not yet participated in military operations.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms depicts a lion, in the original with an erect penis, as it is common in heraldic lions. The penis was removed after protests by Swedish soldiers.
