First Winter Olympic Games in 1924 and first Nordic World Ski Championships

1921 decided to hold an " International Week of the sport ," the International Olympic Committee. This was organized in 1924 for the first time in Chamonix and such a huge success that it was subsequently declared 1926 to be the first Olympic Winter Games.

I. The 1924 Olympic Games in Chamonix four competitions were held in Nordic skiing. Venue was the Olympic Ski Stadium with the hill Le Mont addition to Olympic medals and World Championship medals were awarded at the Nordic disciplines. The only exception was the Nordic combined, where only Olympic medals were awarded.

Date: January 30, 1924 At the competition, the Swiss Simon Julen, Hans Hermann and Alfred Aufdenblatten participated, but none of them could finish the race.

Nordic Combined

Date: January 30, 1924 In the Nordic combined only Olympic medals were awarded. The competition was not part of the Nordic World Ski Championships. Thorleif Haug won both the long run and the jump event. Thoralf Strømstad enough after finishing second in jumping the third-best run-time to win the silver medal. Johan Grøttumsbråten struggled from the 8th place in the ski jumping competition with the second best running time up to third place before.

The bronze medal at the Norwegian Thor Leif Haug has been assigned by a calculation error. Only after 50 years, at a meeting of former Olympians, the IOC has been alerted. The daughter of the deceased in the meantime Thorleif Haug gave the bronze medal at the American Anders Haugen. The Olympic Committee recognized Thorleif Haug from the medal and she said to the American Anders Haugen.
