Date: February 10, The success of Simon Ammann is the first Swiss ski jumping Olympic gold medalist was one of the biggest surprises of the Games of Salt Lake City: The 20-year old Ammann won the Olympic gold medal without having won in his career before even a single World Cup Ski Jumping. His best finish had been early in the season two second places.

Large hill K120

Date: February 13, Simon Ammann won after his surprising victory on the normal hill and jumping on the large hill, this time with a clear lead. This is in addition to Matti Nykänen Ammann in 1988 and Kamil Stoch 2014, the only ski jumper who won two Olympic individual competitions. Ammann 2010 could even repeat this feat.

Date: February 18, With the least possible advantage at all of 0.1 points ( the equivalent of less than four inches ), the German team won against Finland. The favored Austrians had surprisingly Slovenia left the bronze medal. The individual competition in the dominant Simon Ammann ( two gold ) and Adam Malysz ( silver and bronze) were not able to set the scene due to their weak teammates from Switzerland and Poland.
