Nature and environmental protection

In the Swedish forest Ojnareskogen on Northern Gotland Nordkalk is planning a plant for limestone quarrying to build and to drill about 200m deep tunnels. The area should be declared a national park before the sale. Due to a small change in the law by the government Reinfeldt it was the company Nordkalk allowed in the field to reduce lime. Local residents and environmentalists were concerned that the limestone quarrying by the water supply of people is at risk on Gotland and Fårö.

Following protests by the Swedish Nature Conservation Youth fältbiologerna and other Orgamsiationen 70 police officers were laid in the forest.
