Nordperd

The NordPerd ( Perd = Slavic projection ) is a cape on Rügen. It is part of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve and the reserve Moenchgut.

The Cape is the easternmost point of the island of Rügen and the district Vorpommern - Rügen. The approximately 1500 meters long spit of land in the shape of an isosceles triangle, the pointed ends in an approximately 20 meter high forested cliffs to the east. The NordPerd was fixed by coastal protection measures and thus cut off from active processes of compensation coast.

The portion of the reserve NordPerd Moenchgut comprises 69 ha are characteristic of dry grasslands, the sycamore -maple forest slope on the cliff and beach and shallow water areas.

The northern stretch of beach with promenade Göhren is separated by the Cape NordPerd from the south-facing beach Göhrens.

Between the Göhrener pier and the NordPerd lies with the Buskam the largest erratic boulder found so far in Northern Germany, which rises about a meter from the sea.

The counterpart to NordPerd forms the Südperd, the southeastern tip of the island of Rügen in the community Thiessow. Between the NordPerd and eleven kilometers away Südperd be flat sandy beaches of the peninsula Moenchgut, interrupted by the 15 meter high cliff of the town extend Lobber.
