Norihisa Satake

Norihisa Satake (Japanese佐 竹 敬 久, Satake Norihisa; * November 15, 1947 in Kakunodate, Semboku County (now Semboku ), Akita Prefecture ) is a Japanese non-party politician and governor of Akita.

Satake, Tohoku University graduate, was from 1972 official in the prefectural government. In 1997 he left the civil service to prepare for his move into politics. From 2001 Satake for the first of two four-year terms in office was elected as mayor of the city of Akita. From 2007 he sat in front of the "National Conference of Mayors ' ( Zenkoku shichōkai ). Five months before the end of his mandate, he resigned in February 2009.

His candidacy as an independent candidate in the gubernatorial election on April 12, 2009, supported by the LDP Akita, but also by the Social Democrats and trade union representatives. He won with over 50,000 votes ahead of Hiroshi Kawaguchi, who was supported by the Democrats, and two other candidates. The election was after the corruption scandal involving the Democratic Party chairman Ichirō Ozawa in March 2009 as a mood test for the 2009 Shūgiin - election, wants the Ozawa to challenge the unpopular Prime Minister Taro Aso.

Satake took over the governorship on April 20, 2009 by predecessor Sukeshiro terata.

Family

Satake is the 21st head of the house of the Satake clan, which is derived from the Minamoto and ruled until the Meiji Restoration of several areas in the provinces of Hitachi and Ugo. My home country was since the beginning of the Edo period, the Kubota -han (also: Akita -han ), with the main castle Kubota in the present town of Akita.
