Norma, Lazio

Norma, in ancient Norba, is an Italian commune in the province of Latina in the Lazio region with 4039 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Norma is located 67 km southeast of Rome and about 20 km north of Latina. It is located above the steep Südabhangs the Monti Lepini over the Pontine plain. It is a member of the Comunità Montana Monti Lepini e Ausoni.

The municipality is located in the seismic zone 3 (slightly endangered).

The neighboring municipalities are clockwise Cisterna di Latina, Cori, Montelanico (RM ), Carpineto Romano (RM ), Bassiano and Sermoneta.

History

The Volskerstadt Norba was 492 BC, a Roman colony. In imperial times, the place was abandoned for unknown reasons. Only in the Middle Ages the town was founded in the present position. Today's Norma was first mentioned in the 8th century.

Sergio Mancini ( PdL ) was elected as mayor in June 2006 and confirmed in May 2011 at the office. His civil list by Norma also with 8 of 12 seats, the majority in the City Council.

Norma retains a medieval village that lies on a steep slope in an impressive position and offers views of the Pontine plain to the sea.
