Normal is a city in McLean County in the center of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2000, 45 386 inhabitants had normal; to 2009, the population increased to 52 799.

The city of Normal is 54 km south-east of Peoria, 186 km southwest of the city of Chicago, 234 km northeast of the city of St. Louis, 96 km northeast of the city of Springfield and 78 miles north-east of the city of Champaign.

The Illinois State University is a public university in the city. Normal forms with the immediately adjacent Bloomington one common metropolitan area.
