Norman Abramson

Norman Abramson ( born April 1, 1932 in Boston ) is an American engineer and computer scientist who is known for the development of ALOHANET.

He earned his bachelor's degree in physics in 1953 from Harvard University, a master's degree two years later at the University of California, Los Angeles, and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 1958 from Stanford University.

Until 1955 he worked as a research engineer at Hughes Aircraft. 1955 to 1965 he was at Stanford University and in 1966 guest lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley. From 1968 to 1994 he was at the University of Hawaii System professor of electrical engineering and computer science. In the late 1960s he worked at the ALOHANET and in the 1980s to frequency spreading.
