Norman H. Meldrum

Norman H. Meldrum ( born October 11, 1841 in Caledonia, Livingston County, New York, † February 11, 1920 in Denver, Colorado ) was an American politician. Between 1887 and 1889 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Colorado.

Career

About the youth and education by Norman Meldrum nothing is handed down. During the Civil War he served in the army of the Union. He was employed in securing the Union Pacific Railroad. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. Shortly before the founding of the state of Colorado in 1876 he was a deputy in the House of Representatives of Colorado Territory in the year. Between 1877 and 1879 he sat in the Senate the meantime founded the State of Colorado. From 1879 to 1883 he practiced there, the Office of the Secretary of State.

In 1886, Meldrum was elected to the side of Alva Adams as vice governor of his state. This post he held between 1887 and 1889. Doing so, he not only was assistant to the governor, but also chairman of the State Senate. As lieutenant governor, he brought the bill establishing the Colorado State University in the legislation. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor Norman Meldrum is no longer politically have appeared. He died on February 11, 1920 in Denver.
