Norman Krasna

Norman Krasna ( born November 7, 1909 in Queens, New York City; † November 1, 1984 in Los Angeles ) was an American screenwriter, playwright, film producer and film director.

Life

Norman Krasna was educated at New York's Columbia University and Brooklyn Law School. He first started as a film and theater critic in New York to work and came to Hollywood in the early 1930s. A first screenplay by Norman Krasna was realized in 1932. At first he was successful with light comedies. By working with Fritz Lang, he ventured into first dramatic fabrics. The story to Lang's film Blind Fury is Krasna. Krasna created in addition to his screenplays and several plays for Broadway productions. 1940 married the singer Ruth Frazee Krasna. She was a member of the singing group The Frazee Sisters. The marriage was divorced in 1950. 1944 Krasna won his only Oscar for the screenplay for the pilot and the princess. In this film, he led the first time directing. The main roles were played by Olivia de Havilland and Robert Cummings. His directorial debut produced Hal B. Wallis. Overall, he turned three films as a director. Prior to this Oscar award he was nominated three times for an Oscar. 1951 married Krasna Erle Chennault Galbraith, widow of Al Jolson.
