Norman Switzerland

The Norman Switzerland (French Suisse Normande ) is a landscape in the departments of Calvados and Orne in the French region of Lower Normandy.

The name comes from the rugged landscape, which is characterized mainly by the river Orne. The Norman Switzerland is a hilly landscape with mostly dense vegetation. The buildings are more like those in the British Isles, usually have slate roofs. In the Pays d'Auge rather wooden roofs are used. 34 municipalities in the region form the Communauté de communes community association de la Suisse Normande.
